Home Sweet Home…for now

The more observant (or less ignorant) of you may have noticed that I’ve not blogged for almost a month. The even more observant (or those that have me on Facebook) may have also noticed that I’ve been posting pictures with friends from back home. That would be because at the end of May, I flew home.

The “welcome home” committee

No, I haven’t been deported or run out of money. I chose to cut my trip short due to an illness in the family, which meant I couldn’t really enjoy myself on the other side of the world. This isn’t the end of my travels by any means, I like to think of it as “nipping home for a bit” to take care of a bit of business.

The truth is that for the time being, I’ll be in and around Todmorden which right now, is absolutely fine by me. As for the future; who knows?

Spending my final day in Australia with two awesome friends

I’ve made some amazing friends in Australia and had some fantastic experiences, so it’d be great to get back out and see those people again. The issue with that is my working visa. It’s due to expire in March 2014, and I haven’t done the regional work to qualify me for a second year. I could, of course, get a three month tourist visa if it does expire, but then I’d have to think about whether I’d really want to go to such an expensive country without the option to earn money for the future.

Asia has been at the top of my travel wishlist for as long as I can remember, so I can guarantee the next time I head out on the road I’ll end up in Asia at some point. Maybe the time might be right to just head over there for as long as possible.

I’ll definitely be visiting Singapore again

Another option would be to fly to South America and make my way to Brazil so I’m around for the 2014 World Cup. Like Asia, South America has long been on my list of places to visit, so to be there during a World Cup to soak up the atmosphere would be amazing.

The likelihood is that, for now, blogs will dry up on here. There’s (unsurprisingly) not a great deal to write about being in Todmorden! I may come up with a bit of travel related stuff every now and then, so we’ll see. If anyone would like to write a piece for the site, then give me a shout. My contact details can be found here.

Cheers for reading; it’s been a pleasure!

P.S. Does anyone need a ticket for the Manic Street Preachers or Jake Bugg in Melbourne?!
